What shoes are best for Parkour?
While the majority of our program can be done barefoot, there are certain circumstances where the proper footwear will be safer or more comfortable. Like basketball, soccer, rock climbing, bobsledding and every other sport some shoes are more appropriate than others for the task. When purchasing a parkour shoe we are looking for something minimal, with a flexible sole, wide toe box, no raised heel and low sides. Athletes need to be able to feel and grip the ground beneath them.
The worst possible shoe would be a basketball shoe with an air pocket in the heel. This shoe is dangerous for parkour! The shoe changes your body mechanics, makes it impossible to feel the ground beneath you and worst of all, the air pocket can burst as they are not designed for the high impact of parkour.

The Classic
The Feiyues have been the default shoes for parkour for decades. They fit all of the criteria above for an extremely low price. Originally designed for martial arts and the primary shoe for Shaolin Monks they have a cult-like following and have remained largely unchanged for 70 years. I have owned five pair.
